The TNPA is opposed to the management plan amendments on a number of grounds.
The TNPA's view is that for environmental, economic, social equity and logistic
reasons the amendments to facilitate the Three Capes Walk proposal in its current
form should not be accepted. We argue that the walk should be scaled back to a Two
Capes Walk which will avoid phytophthora high risk areas, eliminate sections
dependent on commercial boat operations, provide tent platforms, but no huts at the
designated camping areas and will be significantly lower cost to establish. See a summary of the TNPA's position on the proposal. Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area Management Plan Review The TNPA notes with some concern that many of the significant issues it has raised concerning the review of the management plan are yet to be acted upon, which may result in activities related to some of these issues continuing to impact in a detrimental manner on WHA values. Of particular concern is the issue relating to accommodation within the WHA - an issue which the TNPA has raised on a number of occasions in previous submissions.
